What Managers Should Know About Their Employees
To become a successful manager in your niche, you need to know some basic things about the people working for you. First thing to note here is that you cannot work alone, you need people to fill up some positions for necessary expansion. You have got to know the people in your team; and there is no better way knowing them than what you are about exploring now!Know what talent they have. Talent is a natural gift and strength which one possesses. As a manager, your job is not just to recruit and place a salary scheme; you need to know the talents in your team, knowing this means knowing how best to improve and grow your organization. You can lay this foundation by bringing about important programmes that will enhance and add more value to the talent possessed by your team members. Most managers see this as a waste of resources, but this for sure promotes and triggers the growth of your organization. Think of it this way; every one in your organization is given an opportunity to grow more in what they are naturally good at, the good it will do to you and your organization.
Know what passion they have. This is another important thing to be noted as a manager. Passion is a major tool that ignites talent. Passion has to do with those things that naturally energize, excite, motivate and inspire one. Why it is necessary and inevitable is that it has a unique star it places on you as a manager. The good thing about passion is that it is a fast result yielding tool. I want you to imagine the dangers your organization will be facing when excitement, motivation and inspiration are found wanting; the pain or cost of it can never in anyway be marched with the tax you pay on income or labour cost. Stimulating the passion your employees have brings about intelligence which of course is a potential tool for innovation. Think of ways to make yourself a passion explorer and gain yourself great reputation.
Know there voice. To most managers, what their employees say is nothing to them as long as they remain salary earners under them; but this is a bad impression and a wrong thinking. We have talked about different people having different talent, passion and intelligence; knowing that the people who work for you are not dummies should move you to give an ear to their voices; this is very important because voice is a unique personal significance. Forget what level you are or what resources you possess, start hearing the voice of your employees I can assure you they have a lot to inform you. Try considering yourself a manager with so many things to attend to on daily basis with limited time to get all the information you need to package yourself and your organization; alternatively, most of your employees have all the time and the information which you don't have. However, the onus is on you to access the information or what they have to offer before implementation.
Know their need. This is where conscience comes into play. They way you handle the affairs of your workers is a function of how they respond to their needs. Put yourself in their position and see how motivated you will be when your official package meets all your need; you will not only be happy that your needs were met but will have the small voice within that assures you of what is right and that prompts you to actually do it. Learn to upgrade and maintain the packages your employees go home with and see yourself become the greatest manager of your time.
Ride on is your call!
